Abstract | Collaborative Research: Midwater animal models: Optical measurement of metabolic transitions in pelagic biota: The primary goal is to perform physiological measurements of midwater zooplankton and micronekton onboard ship. Collection of specimens will be carried out using a number of methods. We will deploy a large Tucker Trawl to depths of 2000 meters. This net is 30 meters long and uses 1000 lbs of lead weight. It is operated over a conducting (0.68) cable. A crane and capstan, in addition to the A-frame, are typically used in recovery and deployment. Bluewater SCUBA diving will be conducted from a small RHiB or Zodiac launched from the R/V. |
