| Abstract | Southern California Trawling Cruise: We would like to make a mix of benthic and midwater trawls aboard the R/V Robert G. Sproul during a three day (72 hour) cruise in the early Fall or late Summer. Ideally, we would like to be able to get far enough out to sample at depths from 100 meters to 2,300 meters, but our ability to collect at the deepest depths will depend on projected speed, the number of other trawls, etc., so that will have to be refined as we get further along in our discussion. Our target species are both fishes and invertebrates, and we are just trying to sample a diversity of habitats to maximize collections for the Department of Zoology at The Field Museum. We are really flexible as to specific locations; it is more depth variation that we are interested in. We can collect pretty much anywhere at these depths at the discretion of the captain and other planners. We will gladly offer advice or opinions when necessary. |
